Living with Dignity Foundation donated $7000 to Volunteer Florida Foundation to mitigate the recent Irma hurricane disaster in Florida as a mark of solidarity.

Living with Dignity Foundation also donated $7000 to One Star Foundation to mitigate the recent Harvey hurricane disaster in Texas as rebuild Texas Fund.

Mr. Prabir Roy of LWDF handed over a check of USD5000 to President Bharat Sevashram Sangha, NJ towards Nepal’s Relief Operation. LWDF has also donated USD5000 to Indian Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for relief operation in Nepal for earthquake (26 April, 2015) victims.

Mr. Prabir Roy accompanied by Sri Satyam Roy Chowdhury, Chairman Techno India Group visited Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Social Cultural & Welfare Society on 30th January. It was basically a courtesy visit and to see progress of work done on the piece of land donated by LWDF last year, also involving other industrialists for their CSR work. Sri Satyam Roy chowdhury was kind enough to agree for extending support. LWDF donated USD 35000 to Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Social Cultural & Welfare Society for buying a land to run girls’ orphanage, educating and schooling children belonging to the economically poorest sections and free home for destitute old women.

Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Social Cultural & Welfare Society is intensively carrying out various activities covering women’s empowerment, girls’ orphanage, educating and schooling children belonging to the economically poorest sections and free home for destitute old women etc. Living With Dignity is affiliated to Living With Dignity Foundation, USA, but carry out various welfare activities in India independently.

Both these Societies enjoy exemption from Tax under the Income Tax Act and donations made to them are eligible to tax concession Under the IT ActThey have now joined together to carry out the Project SAFAL. The Project envisages to run vocational training centres for women and girls, schools, girls’ orphanage, old age home etc.

With the financial assistance of USD 35,000 from Living With Dignity Foundation, USA made through Living with Dignity, the Indian Chapter of LWDF, the society could purchase a landed property worth Rs. 40 lacs where other kind-hearted donors made donation for this land of about 15 cotthas at Barrackpore for the Project.

We have joined hand with Vivekananda Seva Samity, Bankura, at rural Bengal where an orphanage is being aided by LWDF. Prabir Roy of LWDF visited the centre in Bankura District of West Bengal in India on 7th Januray, 2009 A check of USD 7500 was handed over to them for building an auditorium and taking care of the orphans.

A 13 seater school bus was donated to Behala Bodhayan on 10th January, 2009 for transporting the mentally retarded ones. General Shankar Roy Chaudhury, President, Living With Dignity, Kolkata, an affiliated unit of LWDF, launched the bus in presence of Prabir Roy and other dignitaries. A home for residential care of these mentally retarded ones is being constructed with the aid of LWDF. Acheck of USD 15,000 was handed over to Sasanka Sekhar Ghosh, Secretary Behala Bodhayan by Sri Sankaracharya Mukhopadhyay, the Secretary of Living with Dignity.

Prabir Roy of LWDF visited Samayita Math, Bankura on December 16, 2009 with his spouse Mrs. Shipra Roy and RP Chakravarty, Sankarcharya Mukhopadhyaya of Living with Dignity (India chapter of LWDF). The team discussed, interacted with the governing body of the Math, run by the female members, for the women emplowerment and education of backward community of villages of Bankura district of West Bengal.

Prabir Roy accompanied by Sankaracharya Mukhopadhyay, Secretary of India Chapter of LWDF visited Susunia Hill of Bankura District in West Bengal, where the annual tribal folk meet (named and known as Kherwal Tokou in the language of local tribes) was organized by Samiyeeta like every year. The area being remotely located, is one of the best opportunities for the poor tribes to meet, greet and dine together to exchange communication and cult for 2 days on 31 December and 1st January,. Members of LWDF and LWD made on the spot visit to have first hand experience of the good effort of Samiyeetaa Woman run project where LWDF is expected to participate in future.

Samaita is a voluntary organization works in Amrakanon, Bankura, a remote village where women empowerment is practiced with practical vision. LWDF donated in 2010 considerable amount for accommodation of destitute girls those are studying in the High School run by Samaita. Prabir Roy accompanied by Shipra Roy and the Governing Body Members of LWDF India Chapter – Shiaditya Ganguly, Sahadeb Mondal, RP Chakravarty and Bulbul Ganguly & Rina Mondal, visited the project and interacted with the beneficiaries on February 11, 2011.
