Ongoing Projects
LWDF donated USD 35000 to Barrackpore Avenue Women's Social Cultural & Welfare Society for buying a land to run girls' orphanage, educating and schooling children belonging to the economically poorest sections and free home for destitute old women.
Barrackpore Avenue Women's Social Cultural & Welfare Society is intensively carrying out various activities covering women's empowerment, girls' orphanage, educating and schooling children belonging to the economically poorest sections and free home for destitute old women etc. Living With Dignity is affiliated to Living With Dignity Foundation, USA, but carry out various welfare activities in India independently.
Both these Societies enjoy exemption from Tax under the Income Tax Act and donations made to them are eligible to tax concession Under the IT ActThey have now joined together to carry out the Project SAFAL. The Project envisages to run vocational training centres for women and girls, schools, girls' orphanage, old age home etc.
With the financial assistance of USD 35,000 from Living With Dignity Foundation, USA made through Living with Dignity, the Indian Chapter of LWDF, the society could purchase a landed property worth Rs. 40 lacs where other kind-hearted donors made donation for this land of about 15 cotthas at Barrackpore for the Project.
Project for destitute women and children in Barrackpore
Barrackpore Avenue Women Cultural and Social Welfare Society is an organization working in the areas of women empowerment, child literacy and destitute elderly care for the past 12 years. Presently, it is functioning in North 24 Parganas in West Bengal. It is running 2 orphanages, 2 old age homes, 14 slum schools, 4 vocational training centers, 2 legal counseling cells, charitable dispensaries and awareness camps. LWDF renders financial assistance to them.
Project for Destitute Girls in Bankura
Samaita is a voluntary organization works in Amrakanon, Bankura, a remote village where women empowerment is practiced with practical vision. LWDF donated in 2010 considerable amount for accommodation of destitute girls those are studying in the High School run by Samaita.
Hijaldaha Orphan Project, Bankura
Vivekananda Seva Samity, Hijaldaha, Bankura runs an self sustained orphanage in the remote ruural area of Bankura in West Bengal where Living With Dignity Foundation donated the cost of an auditorium that was inaugurated by Shipra Roy in 2010. Prabir Roy accompanied by Shipra Roy and the Governing Body Members, Shiaditya Ganguly, Sahadeb Mondal, RP Chakravarty and Bulbul Ganguly and Rina Mondal, visited the project and interacted with the beneficiaries.
Project for mentally retarded ones
We are presently working with Behala Bodhoyan, a voluntary organization running a home and rehabilitation center for mentally retarded children. A 13 seater school bus was donated to them on 10th January, 2009 for transporting the mentally retarded ones. General Shankar Roy Chaudhury, President, Living With Dignity, Kolkata, an affiliated unit of LWDF, launched the bus in presence of Prabir Roy and other dignitaries. A home for residential care of these mentally retarded ones is constructed with the aid of LWDF. Orphanage - We have joined hand with Vivekananda Seva Samity, Hijaldaha, Bankura, at rural Bengal where an orphanage is being aided by LWDF for building an auditorium and taking care of the orphans. A check of USD 7500 was handed over to them on 7th January, 2009.

Project for Sanitation improvement - We are working with a voluntary organization in Bankura district of West Bengal where villagers are given free sanitary lavatory to improve upon their life standard. These people are used to go to open area for toilet thus spreading airborne diseases.

Arsenic Removal Program - Arsenic and Fluoride is a menace is in many villages of West Bengal in India. We could think about adopting a village to provide villagers arsenic free water

Old Age Home - We are planning to assist such organization that considers home for elderly people at their old age when they do not have anyone to how solidarity to them.
